When to book
The best time to photograph newborns is typically between 7–21 days after birth, when babies are still very sleepy and curly. However, I happily photograph older newborns as well – every stage is special.
Session location
You can choose:
- In-studio session – Perfect for clean, classic portraits with controlled lighting and simple, timeless backgrounds.
- In-home lifestyle session – Natural, cozy photos of you and your baby in your own environment (bedroom, living room, nursery).
Session length
Newborn sessions are usually 2–3 hours, allowing plenty of time for:

- Changing outfits and wraps
- Family and sibling portraits

How to Prepare for Your Newborn Session
Before your session
- Keep baby in a loose diaper and easy-to-remove clothing before you arrive.
- Try to feed your baby right before the session time, if possible, so they’re sleepy and comfortable.
- Choose neutral, soft colors for parents and siblings (beige, cream, white, soft pastels) to keep the focus on baby.
What to bring
- Extra diapers & wipes
- Extra formula or breast milk (if bottle feeding)
- Pacifier (if your baby uses one)
- Any special blanket, heirloom or small item you’d like to include
Safety First
Your baby’s safety is my top priority.
- I use safe posing and never force babies into uncomfortable positions.
- Props are cleaned and sanitized regularly.
- Room temperature is kept warm and cozy to keep baby comfortable throughout the session.

A: It’s best to book while you’re still pregnant (around your second or third trimester). I reserve a spot around your due date and then confirm the exact date after baby arrives.
Q: What if my baby is older than 3 weeks?
A: That’s perfectly okay! We can still create beautiful images – they may be more awake and expressive, which is lovely in photos.
Q: Can parents and siblings be in the photos?
A: Yes, of course. I highly recommend including parents and siblings – these images are priceless memories for your child when they grow up.
